The Evergreen Golden Retriever Club (EGRC) wrapped up 2024 with a joyful holiday bash at the home of Deb and Frank Pampiks, where members gathered for an evening of festive fun. "We had a gift exchange with a variety of gifts and lots of stealing involved!" shared Deb Pampiks, who hosted the festive gathering with Frank. Deb also noted, "We had 18 members present... Peter conducted the EGRC general meeting. He made it fun, interesting, and informative! We had a lovely potluck dinner with lots of good food and wine!"
EGRC members and their Golden companions kept busy throughout the year! From competition at our Conformation Specialty and Agility Trials to the impressive displays of natural retrieving abilities at our Hunt Tests, there was a lot of engagement. We even hosted a WC/WCX Test where Golden and Flat-Coated Retrievers, and Irish Water Spaniels showed off their impressive working skills. Of course, our monthly meetings continued to be an important aspect, providing opportunities for members to communicate, learn and connect with fellow Golden enthusiasts.
EGRC continued to be dedicated to giving back to the canine community. This year, we proudly supported a variety of organizations doing incredible work for dogs, including the Golden Retriever Foundation's Shine-On Project, the Washington State Animal Response Team, Old Dog Haven, Left Behind K9 Rescue, Washington State University Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital, and vital research on Pigmentary Uveitis.
As we look forward to 2025, EGRC is already organizing plans for another fantastic year. Getting ready for the 2025 Agility Trials, CCA events, and our annual Specialty – it's going to be another busy year. A huge "thank you" goes out to all our members, volunteers, and supporters who make EGRC such a special community. We're especially grateful to Marj Deupree, our outgoing Newsletter Editor, for her incredible work, and we warmly welcome Peter Gortner as he takes the reins. Here's to another year of celebrating our Golden Retrievers and the wonderful connections we share!
